Paul went above and beyond to support a very challenging project delivered by a third party, Chiltern Railways.
Paul has reviewed this project’s safety verification submissions from early 2010 and provided clear guidance through-out. This has resulted in a successful safety assessment issued five weeks in advance of the final project commissioning planned for the end of August 2011. Paul was fair and supportive throughout the process and was a real enabler to successful delivery.
Paul has assimilated very well into his role as Professional Head of Signal Engineering and brings huge experience, coupled with a measured calm approach. He is a major asset to the engineering team.
Paul’s safety assessment and verification of our project (Bristol to Bath) was rigorous but always constructive in offering potential solutions to overcome a challenge. It was the first time the team had been through the ROGS process and certainly found Paul’s application of the process valuable for future projects.
Due to the size and complexity of the Reading Station Area Resignalling [RSAR], Paul proactively requested Network Rail’s Approval Panel to endorse the formation of a Project Safety Verification Group [PSVG]. Paul then chaired the PSVG meetings, providing guidance to the RSAR Project Team with regard to their safety submissions. Paul’s leadership in this process is the best I have experienced in my 10 years with Network Rail.
